@mrs_helm: A good start. I was hoping for more insight as to where the other end of the bracket is mounted. Whether it was rigged to the desk itself or if they were used as expected and mounted to the wall behind the desk.
I'd really like to see some detailed pictures or an explanation on the mounting of the glass shelf. The best I can get is a mention of wall brackets on the Flickr page, but no detail as to how the wall brackets are used.

So you are not worried about the age of your iPod backup drive coming into play in the near future? I never owned one of the originals and wasn't really into iPods back then so I don't know how robust they are, but i'd certainly be a bit fearful of using an old device like that to back-up files on.
