As a side note, this is a good reminder of how powerful of a speaker John Lewis is. Just his voice gives me goosebumps, partially because of the history that it carries with it.

Nothing else really needs said here. Too many guys who will be too old when 2018 comes around were on this roster. Your best performers for the tourney (outside of dempsey) were your younger guys (Brooks, Yedlin, Wood, Zardes) who will be the backbone of your 2018 team.

I agree that this is a long term project and we are still moving forward. With that in mind, wouldn’t you agree that we need to excise players like Beckerman and Wondo in order to move ourselves into the future.

I understand that is a possibility, but regardless of how a player plays, a coach can give that player (especially a young one) confidence by showing that he has confidence in him to perform. Jurgen has actually been quite good at giving young guys a chance, which is what made last night really disappointing to me.

We know at this point EXACTLY what we are getting from Wondo and Beckerman. This was the perfect opportunity to see what two of your most exciting young players would do on a big stage. He could have come to them and said, “I have faith that you two can make a difference” which is a big deal for players that young.
