@schembs: WorldTimeServer appears to be a very full-function site. Not as elegant, but for me information itself is elegant. Worth checking out.

This week, many companies relying on McAfee automatic DAT file updates, got hit by false positives, that deleted system files, and in some cases disabled their network cards. One firm I know lost a day's work from close to 1,000 PCs.

I think some of the posters misconstrue the process. If I understand it correctly, you turn on the water, but it doesn't come out until the lever is pushed. Many people leave the water running the entire time they wash, lather, brush teeth, etc., and it is this waste that this faucet hopes to prevent. I never have

It needs to incorporate Daylight Savings Time, and acknowledge those places, like Saskatchewan where I do a lot of business, who do not have DST. Google's Time does this well.

Despite advertising, most vodka and gin brands are virtually indistinguishable from each other. Many studies have shown that even vodka connoisseurs cannot tell one from the other. So for this purpose, go for the price!

Any separate account that you sock money away at source, so it does not enter into your day-to-day usage stream, is the idea. Whether it is divided up for Stupid Mistakes, Xmas, Vacation, etc., or a single fund that you think about before any withdrawals, you are creating what Siddhartha calls (in the link) a

The alarm clock is on the other side of the spouse. I often listen to the news and weather (12 min) as my wake-up time. I don't know the health benefits, but I feel intellectually ready to move into full consciousness by that time.

I had to look up Airborne to know what it is. Note that Wikipedia notes the controversy "There are no studies supporting Airborne's effectiveness that meet scientific standards", and there are class action lawsuits against the company. ([en.wikipedia.org])) Interesting what you can learn from these tips that you

Great idea for small spaces. As some have pointed out, not great for jeans or large towels, however, perfect for socks, underwear, children's clothing, and maybe blouses.

Procrastination is the only instantaneous goal. As soon as you've done something about it, it disappears.

VLC also comes in Portable, so it can play from your USB, etc.

You can round a lot of things to good benefit. When shopping, whether online or live, I always do generous rounding up so that I understand the true cost of something. I estimate my groceries for example, by taking the price of each thing as I grab it, rounding to the next higher dollar, and when it is time to pay,

This is a tip for those with willpower to not eat all the chips!

All the above work well for those who are by nature organized, or who need to be organized. They are the ones who may not need any of the above.

I like it. Some slow-cooker recipes cook too munch on high but not enough on low, so this may help.

Instead of readers denigrating the article or each other's comments, I'd like to suggest that most all devices to make a password easy to remember are by that fact necessarily flawed. My methods, too.

It's a favourite of the Portable Freeware community. It uses plug-ins or existing apps for some filetypes (see [www.uvviewsoft.com])

I've lost my 1960's era white-handled serrated "everything" knife a few months back, you know, the kind with a plain plastic handle, serrated edge and two "points" at the end. Still the best knife I've ever owned....

I really like the Test-to-speech idea. I am not sure it matters too much what the voice is (though I really dislike the freebies) because, I think, a more mechanical voice may actually make it easier to detect errors as there is less rhythm to lull me.

@DarwinSurvivor: Agreed. You don't wear oven mitts with a toaster oven. My issue is usually that if the rack of the toaster oven comes out too far, it won't go back in without pushing with the back of the knife, toast, whatever.
