The difference between goals and ToDos.....

Different locales may have different pricing—it is vastly different in Canada—but the template is excellent. Not looking for a few months, but I think I'll drop the template into a spreadsheet and add the calculations, so that if/when I do go shopping, I fill in the blanks, and at least eliminate the overall worst

@Crashproof: All optimization and technical tuning IS a crapshoot. Tuning and etc. is, imo, 15% knowledge and 85% art.

@Gilliam (toilet flush): Debunked by Skeptic magazine.

Growing up, every doorknob became a conduit point (ouch!). So, set an old doorknob on the corner of your desk, and attach a wire (any kind will do) from it to the radiator or failing that to the screw that holds the light switch or outlet plate on.

I've used this hack since being a teenager. Thirty years later, I haven't had but a cell phone or digital time piece for years, but since I remember where the numbers are on an analogue watch, this method still works for me!

Looks intriguing. Fully portable (all settings saved to .ini file, no registry settings nor other file dependencies. Language files not needed for Russian or English).

My former home was, the techs told me, half-way between Bell towers, and was a dead zone—half my suburb was that dead zone! I got intot he habit of demanding a 7-day grace to test the phone for coverage at the 3-4 key places I needed it to work, and got it each time, though it took a lot of talking to do so.

Wonderfully cute story. Some people will come up with excuses to not return things they find, others will return with just the contact info.

@downstairs got it right. Here up in Canuckville, we never turn off the heat below 15 degrees Celsius (60 Fahrenheit), all outdoor faucets have turn-off valves, at least one foot inside the house wall, the outdoor faucets are left wide open, and if need be we turn off the water to the house.

One of my rare-earth magnets is taped to the grocery list pencil. I also use them to pin up posters or other movable items. Instead of taping a poster or party streamer to the wall, I put thumb tacks in, and use magnets to hold the item up—beats repainting.

Instead of photocopying, I inserted a small SD card in my camera and took photos of front and back of all cards/id. I removed this card and kept it separate (I actually made two, one to keep at home and one in the hotel safe when travelling).

I always look around the local mega-bookstore for their under-$10 deals, and when I find something that is really intriguing (generic humour is always good), I hang onto it until the occasion arises.

I searched for a long time to find the perfect reminder program for my needs, portable, and flexible enough for odd recurrences. Further, I like it all in one place, so that I actually use it.

@Cornflower: Sorry, meant "Tim" doesn't work in Canada.

@djsmiley2k: Time doesn't work in Canada. Some places there's a Tim's (doughnuts) on every corner (smile)

Other countries may still have it! For the sample, replace What+Me+Worry with What!+Me+Worry! to give a bit of emphasis.

I've used nutcrackers this way for decades. They never seem to get lost, even when they are no longer good for cracking nuts (i.e. spring lost).

TIP: If your reply is a YES/NO/Maybe, simply put it in the Subject line and hit Send. That way, the other party doesn't have to open the email. The trick is to get other people doing it, too.....(sigh)
