Follow up question: What do you consider the best RPG of the time period? I'd say BG2. D2 was never an rpg to me, more of an action game with heavy RPG elements. I think it was the twitch elements that attracted me most, which is why the lack of hitboxes in 3 is on my gripe list. (I'll forgive them that, though, as I

After some of the more reasonable comments on this thread, I do indeed plan on giving it a try post patching before making a final decision on the expansion. I wouldn't be this mad still if I didn't really WANT it to be the game I thought it was going to be.

I wouldn't say that I expected 5 years. I did expect at least 5 months, and didn't get it. Do I expect this from most games? No. At the time of D3s release, I DID expect it of Blizzard games because that's what I'd gotten after every one of 'em.

I think that a lot of people played for more than 5 years, although it's not a fair comparison to d3 as I'm including the d2 expansion in that figure.

I would absolutely feel comfortable stating that more people played pre-expansion d2 for longer than pre-expansion d3. I'm not alone in this opinion.

And that's why you have as much a right to like the game as I have a right to dislike it: We both bought it and put time into it.

Sounds like you stopped playing about half a year after starting. This is my big complaint with the game (pre-new patch, which I haven't tried yet): Unlike d2 which gave me like 5 years of

You said "whiners" when what I think you meant to say was "consumers" or "customers."

That's pathetic, and also a word for word definition of trolling.

This.

Hah look at his post history, he be rick trollin'.

But... This isn't politics. You're suggesting that gaming writers practice viewpoint neutrality towards system preference? There's nothing to be neutral about here. A good gaming PC is quantifiably more powerful than next gen consoles.

You're really, really being silly here and should probably stop before you embarrass

Hahahahah you're so silly. I just looked, and all he did was make tiny pro-pc comments in what was clearly a tongue in cheek way. And here you are, all sad. Nothing unprofessional in either of those articles. He's just showing a bit of personality in his writing, nothing wrong with that.

It's kinda weird that you're

... Huh? I thought he did fine. We incite the shitty flame wars on our own. He doesn't deserve credit for our hard work.

Very cool. We could all really win on this one if Owen starts one up at his new digs too - Double the fun.

Nice, thanks for the history.

I'm not knocking Kotaku, I plan on frequenting both sites.

Do you know if there's a plan to keep the 'shop contest going, Mr. Fahey? (edit oops you already answered this above.)

Right, but I'm complaining about a game. You're complaining about my complaining. One is slightly more ridiculous than the other. disagreeing with me is fine, but going post to post through the entire conversation is kind of creepy and weird.

Ummm... No, I'm posting my opinion on a game site comment thread. That's what people do here. Everyone is entitled to have an opinion. Especially paying customers who are speaking in a public forum.

What's your deal, man? Why do you care what I think about Jay wilson's disaster?

I kept waiting for it to get better and it never did.

You just replied to like.. 7 of my comments on this thread. Why are you so determined to invalidate my opinion? It's not a unique opinion. Lots of folks feel the same way. What's your stake in this?

Yeah... First impressions after 10 minutes of surfing are "how have I not checked this site out before?"

I think the problem is that I used to listen to Rebel FM until Arthur Geiss's constant bitching made me stop. I think I let the one guy rep the whole site for me, which seems to be my loss.

Awww. AWWWWW. shit.

The 'shop contest is pretty much why I'm here. What a bummer.

That said, looking at polygon's staff... It's basically Kotaku classic, plus some 1up alumni. Might give it a try. Kotaku can keep me if they keep the shop contest rolling.

That makes sense.

It's a very japanese design aesthetic. From my western perspective it seems like the designer is screaming "look at that crotch area!" but I know that's not what they were going for.
