Dianese and alpinestars are making high tech airbags triggered by sensors. The other types are triggered by a lanyard attached to the bike: The main purveyors are hit-air and helite. I use a hit-air.

Dainese and Alpinestars came out with consumer-level suits a couple years ago. There’s a computer and air canister in the hump on the back of the suit that inflates bags all around your shoulders and chest. They’re like $1200

The are available now for street use integrated into many suits and jackets. Stand alone (to put underneath a jacket) is also coming soon.

I’ve seen the halo airbags for head protection for cyclists, but I’ve not seen an inflato-suit either. I’d love to see more about this kind of stuff.

They were cash-strapped and on the verge of bankruptcy for ages and the introduction of the Cayenne brought them up to be a profit leader, which also allowed us to get some of the best cars ever made. I found the Taycan concept very appealing, I don’t know if I’d ever buy an EV but that looked cool. This production model, not so much.

Great David vs Goliath story, except it isn’t clear which is which. Tesla now sells more cars than Porsche. Porsche has been around a long time and makes vast amounts of money selling cars. Tesla, not so much. But Tesla is the Goliath of EV production while Porsche is the startup.
