Why would you assume the incident started with the start of the video? Is that dirt bike even allowed on the street? Even it it was, I’m going to guess there aren’t drivers licenses for 13 yr olds, even in florida. By definition he was driving recklessly to get to the gas station in the first place.

This is patently false based on the video in the article. The kid was stationary at a gas pump when the cop saw him and pulled in.

So true, well played.

It’s all owned and maintained by the gasoline distributor

and rather than all of us just bs-ing on the requirements here, let’s look at what is required:

Agreed. Panic and/or lack of brain cells - want to bet the owner did something stupid - like padlocked access to the breakers...

So I agreed with your points that safety systems don’t need to be perfect to be valuable elsewhere, but Doug outlined a clear set of actions that could have been pursued to mitigate the leak. I’d agree with his #1,3. I wouldn’t blame the engineer (#4), for the reason that I’m sure the installation was designed with

You assuming the average driver can parallel park for this one off situation to even occur is cute.

I’m broadly in line with your take.

Seriously ;-) I thought he was one of those ‘you can earn $5000 a day from home’ spammers the first time I tried to read his post.

Yes, but can you throttle steer a RWD from a dead stop out of a parallel parking spot? (without wrecking your rims). FWD / AWD is money for pulling the front around in snow driving.

Agreed. There really is nothing dangerous at all about Tail of the Dragon when you drive it within the (quite low) speed limit.

if i ever make changes on my policy, i email it to myself, and also print it out immediately, and it gets filed in my insurance folder.

I agree, there are a ton of consumer protection laws with respect to auto insurance.  Unless they have the guy on tape agreeing to change the policy to liability-only , the insurance company is going to have a really tough time not paying out here, as soon as he hires a lawyer to press it.

Correct, they are basically getting an exception to run the 2021 C8.R race cars for the 2022 season. I’m not sure what happens for 2023 and they’ve said the Z06 GT3.R will be ready for the 2024 season.

Yes and no.

Michael Douglas’s 1995 BMW 740iL from The Game. My early 20s brain thought that was the most aspirational thing ever. (Turns out I’m a Porsche Panamera guy instead, but I digress).

Buyer beware - the Amazon reviews on the linked unit are quite mixed. It seems like there is a good unit (probably the one the guy in the video is using) and then some people selling fakes on Amazon.

Your solution is relatively civil.

It is a start. Imagine a future where you have a drivers license in your phone, but can control what information is shared.
