"Is there some kind of history to it that makes it Epic Big Bad and/or disrespectful?"
you are dumb and wrong
You're right, the number one problem with U.S. prisons is that they're just too gosh-darn FUN!
I did follow the discussion and saw that you referred to the laffer curve three times as 'proof' of something or other, and even here you still try to refer to it as something "needed and valuable" which it assuredly is not.
"I applaud any rich person who makes their own rules"
The Laffer curve does not 'model' anything. It states only that there is some optimal level of taxation between 0% and 100% that will maximize revenue. It's a dumb thing made by a dumb man and is regarded as useless by all but the dumbest economists who are on the Heritage Foundation payroll.
I can't believe you kept reading after 'Laffer curve'.
You forgot the part where you tell us how we can make 5k a week working from home.
Is the argument here really that we need to further medicalize women's bodies and design more unneeded and likely expensive treatments for women to go through? Is the dick pill industry actually the model you wish women's health would emulate?
Welp, diff'rent strokes and all, but I do think you're missing out.
Agreed, it's a shame that some people get defensive around articles like this because the point isn't to say, "throw away all your makeup right now or you're a Bad Woman," but to try to confront the fact that 'Woman' is a societally constructed category based around certain norms and expectations of appearance and…
Is it? It's well known that alcohol has been brewed by pretty much every culture throughout history since the development of agriculture. Anthropologically speaking, it's as much part of what makes us human as laughter or childrearing, and has played an important role in the evolution of vastly disparate societies. …
Drinking alcohol is what humans were put on this earth to do. Every moment spent sober is a rejection of life's true gift.
What often gets overlooked in these debates in the central truth that ALL humans are petty, materialistic, shallow and self-interested misers who are incapable of forming connections with each other that are not corrupted by societal expectations and stigmas. All of our romantic endeavors are nothing more than…
Correction: I do know things about mental illness and I'm making myself look smart.
Pro-tip: Anytime you're going to make an appeal to evolutionary psychology—don't.
Sure, I realize the practical matters involved here, but once you start to define 'mental illness' as any deviation from a standardized norm instead of a manifestation of a specific pathology, you're getting into really dicey territory. And especially when it comes to kids, who already naturally display wider…
If they can't be diagnosed until adulthood then I guess it's a little premature to start talking about what illnesses he might have, huh?
I do think the parents are screw-ups though? And I also think it's helpful to point that out so others don't make the same mistakes.
That's incorrect, I've been admitted to psychiatric facilities without a diagnosis. The 'harm to yourself or others' is interpreted very, very broadly.
