Where I live, the tax burden is extraordinary, as is the case for most metropolitan areas. Sales tax, facility tax, convenience fees, taxi and rental car fees, convention center taxes, flight taxes and on and on.

Try to take a subsidized Amtrak train ride between cities on the East Coast for anything approaching airline fares. Air travel is an amazing value provided you’re traveling between metropolitan centers.

Worked with a guy from China years back. He used to explain that one of the benefits of being a Young Pioneer is that you only have to wait days instead of weeks or months to get a train ticket.

The main reason that celebrities settle is to avoid the negative publicity of a trial or lengthy public legal fight. Jose Fernandez has no such concerns.
