When you are talking such low production run vehicles, yeah making it by hand is definitely the cheaper option. The capital to put in the conveyor, robotics, etc. to mass produce just doesn't make sense. That being said, even at $57k I don't think Toyota is expecting to make any money off of this. This is a showcase

Haha maybe. We will see how many they make. I for one wouldn't necessarily be disappointed with that result as I would be happy to own one for $50k.

My takeaway. The real price of an ATS-V is $67,500 plus taxes and fees...

The reasoning is that the market in other industries is showing that working X amount equates to a certain paycheck. Where as in the UAW environment they are doing X/2 and getting the same paycheck. Its not that crazy.

Clearly you think that the work they do justifies the cost. I would argue it doesn't. This is based on my first hand experience of the work they do on a day to day basis and my experience in other business watching non-unionized workers complete similar tasks. I don't think that the market justifies the wage they are

I hear ya. I work in auto so I see what it takes to do the job every single day. I have first hand experience there.

Just so you know $30/hr equates to a paycheck of over $62K per year. Thats for one person. Median household income in the US is roughly $55k per year. Thats a whole household, in the ideal state you are describing that would be 2 wage earning adults meaning that they would be making in excess of $120k per year, well

Expect more stories like this as every automaker says they've had to do what had to be done to stay alive and the UAW saying "yeah, on our backs assholes."

Haha agreed. The question really is what crazy person is paying this much for this thing? The expendable income of these people must be just overwhelming.

I love all the rage saying this vehicle is over-priced. Its not over-priced, its priced to what the market is willing to pay for it and if I remember correctly all of these are sold. If it was priced this high and no one was willing to buy it then it would be considered overpriced.

No, its priced to what people are willing to pay for it. They all sold for that price so no it is not overpriced. If it was priced that high and then no one was willing to buy it then it becomes overpriced.

But is it grounded to the ground? That's the question

Good to know. I didn't really see anyone turning off their car while it is moving type of thing, but could totally see myself being lazy at a stoplight and doing it. Sort of an embarrassing moment.

That little red button is the start/stop button for the car. I totally see someone (including myself) downshifting into first and turning the car off. Maybe not the best placement.

dibs

As someone from WV this is funny. Well Done.

The E30 is a great car no doubt in my mind. My statement was more meant to target the frequent statement that modern technology is bad (which was repeated throughout the film). By saying that modern technology makes worse vehicles what we are suggesting is that in the late 1980s we had hit the pinnacle of automobile

I am all about the driving experience and love an E30, but I grow weary of the constant things used to be better modern technology sucks line. The E30 was/is great, but the modern technology we have in cars is amazing and to suggest that taking that away would be better is a bit silly. Think about what if the

The music for that video is ridiculous. hahaha free willy boat + death metal = nonsense
