Damn, I didn’t know this was still a thing. Nintendo had the same problem with the 3DS eshop for years, but despite all their struggles to keep up when it comes to network infrastructure, even they’ve patched up that security hole.

You’ve pretty much answered your own question. It’s all about the competition. And to have a competitive streaming service means you need to have something the other doesn’t provide, hence why all these networks are pulling their content to roll into their own service.

Shaping up to look like the first time FFVIII is treated right since it was shat out for PS1. I just hope the PC port doesn’t come with some caveat like a Square Enix account requirement or ships with one very noticeable bug that they’ll never fix.

I’d say it depends on what you’re looking for, but I’d shoot for the GBA version. I’d say the script isn’t bad as it is, and on top of the extra jobs there’s also an extra bonus dungeon and boss.
