Honestly, the right answer is the E63S station wagon. You can get it paint-to-sample and all hopped up by Kleeman or Renntech, on some serious HRE or CCW forged rims, for $140k. That’s a car that you don’t have to make excuses for in any situation. 

Pedantic answer: A Lincoln Navigator is way too fucking big to fit in the underground garage at the average urban condo building or office building. A Urus is a length you can work with in NYC/LA/SF. A Navigator is for suburbanites.

In the eyes of the government, they are aircraft. That’s a much more complicated set of regulations than for cars. This stuff ain’t ever gonna happen unless the FAA randomly decides that anything with a 1000-foot flight ceiling somehow is exempt from pilot licensing requirements, flight distance separations, etc etc.

Perhaps you don’t realize that I agree with you. The US automakers were, by cost structure and culture, not able to adapt with the nimbleness of the foreign manufacturers. I know a fair number of these owners, and they mostly are not posers. They want a “nice car,” and they feel like the base models are fast enough for their nervous system. It’s modesty, in a way, not buying any more car than they think they really need.

I don’t disagree with you as to priorities, but the sales declines and layoffs did in fact happen. The history is clear that the regulations put U.S. automakers at a competitive disadvantage. The result was the long-term loss of market share to Japanese, and to a lesser extent, European automakers.

Hm. Rumor seems to be that this is a $450k car, which probably means $500k once you add options.
