I can't imagine deliberately creating human beings only to rob them of any kind of family. Having dedicated parental figures is so crucial to children, even if they aren't your biological parents.

Agreed. Not so sure why this is so hard to understand. Not all fiction has to be escapist. It can be difficult and dirty, too.

I have trouble drowning stink bugs in my garden that are actively eating my eggplants. I can't imagine crunching down on something that can still feel pain—the guilt would outweigh the pleasure.

If I were a less honest person, I'd be making another account to give you more stars.

Ah, you are right. I also looked it up at the usda website. It seems I was led astray by my own sources. Carry on.

I think you did miss my point. This is why I clarified that I didn't mean it literally. Organic is how it's grown, GMO is what it is. Genetically modified organisms can be grown organically, as long as one does not use synthetic pesticides or fertilizers.

I think it's a broad misconception that GMOs are the opposite or organic produce. Organic is an adjective while GMO is a noun (I say non-literally). We need a good acronym of produce for people who want to hit all the buzzwords for one apple.

Organic for me really only works on the small scale backyard crop where you can foster a little micro ecosystem. Mine is full of assassin bugs, praying mantises, and ladybugs. It's very hard to properly manage beneficials on an industrial scale.

Yeah, in fairness it does vary from person to person.

*Shrugs* pretty sure the first movie didn't have a fight scene in the alien ship. I mean, I take your point, I do—but it does end where the original begins.

I wouldn't call The Thing a pseudo remake—it was a full-on prequel. It ends where the older movie begins.

I don't know, I know several men who liked "Bridesmaids." Male characters were pretty marginal in that movie. It was just funny.

Hear hear! Why can't we have a completely bifurcated society? Men raising boys, women raising girls, and we only ever get together to make new people.

I am so happy multiple people's minds went to her. She was so cool.

Probably just the first two.

Pretty sure everyone is at least dimly aware of Georgia O'Keefe in the same way they know Raphael's name but probably can't name a single thing he did.

That's where my mind went, too.

I didn't know who Raphael was when I was nine, haha! That's how I learned the name.

I know. It's not like there were no women artists in that period. I get that they weren't as famous as a mangled sculpture, but most American children don't really know who Raphael is.

As long as all you magical unicorns that never fight don't expect that the only healthy relationships look like yours, good for you. I don't envy you, but it doesn't really matter whether I do.
