Let me get this straight: if a Star Trek writer wanted to reveal that "Riker was a robot the entire time!"...your main concern would be about "yeah, that's how Riker would react to the revelation that he's really a robot with implanted memories".....but you wouldn't really focus on how absurd it is to say that Riker

First....wow. In as many words you honestly brush aside any criticisms of the writing quality as fans who were annoyed their favorite characters didn't hook up.

Well, for starters: Starbuck, Tigh, Tyrol, and Anders walked around by the end of the show freaking out that they were either Cylons or undead Angels. Yes, that drastically affected their actions and behaviors.

Question: At this point, do you consider Helix to be Ron Moore's triumphant return to scifi TV drama?

(Seriously, though, they kept saying that Ron just came up with a twist in the back half of the show, a central one — have they confirmed what it was yet?)

Ron was struggling to define what the *basic motivations* were for the primary antagonists on the TV series...into the final season itself.

This wasn't "fluid" subplots...basic, core plot elements were left undefined.

A perfect example is something as simple as Hera: Ron said, in as many words, that he had no idea

Emphasis on the "fitting it in" part, sir: he really couldn't "fit it in" but shoved it in anyway. Round pegs into square holes.

Upon further inspection, let me get this straight:

You're saying that a major reason BSG went out of control (and in the process, you tacitly acknowledge that it had problems)....is because Ron Moore was so obsessed with placating the obsessed fans who regularly interacted with him via messageboards and blog Q&A, that

    You have a cool screename.

The few people who still defend BSG frequently try to brush off criticisms of how Ron Moore self-imploded as "just the usual fan chatter", "well that's just your opinion", "hey, it's not our fault that your favorite character didn't get more screentime."

No...these were systemic problems in how the entire series was

Actually I think he showed up before, wasn't he the guy that had that coolant suit they put Peter in with oxygenated liquid?

Actually, that originated in the Long Halloween (openly cited as an influence by Nolan).....but that very idea was later subverted on the animated series:

You never see Communists drinking water, only vodka.

    God help us all.

    Girls are bad at math.

    Nature will find a way.

...Charlie Jane agreed with most of my criticisms.

This heresy cannot shake my faith in the Eternal Emperor.

I used to run an Evangelion fansite and now I'm an Admin on Game of Thrones news sites; you also met me in person once, Charlie, I'm that idiot with the Fourth Doctor scarf. Should I bother applying? I feel dangerously underqualified. Though I have also been obsessed with BSG, then fell out of BSG, and now post
