I don't think destruction on such a scale would *necessarily* remove faith in God — a lot of people might conversely say that God is what allowed them to get through it. Just that there have been disasters before.

This sounds - in a good way - like a more focused and depressing character study on the aftermath of Max Brooks' World War Z. In WWZ, reclaiming the world from the zombie outbreak actually re-instills the confidence of the human race.....or at least, they knew they had the option to simply wait 20 years n their Safe…

It wasn't some magic weak spot; their website explained this more clearly, but the idea is that their head is just filled with sensory organs. Their brain is in their chest, on the right side opposite the heart. So going for headshots wasn't working.

The characters fit the stereotypes and were by-the-numbers, yeah, but they were well-acted and well written for their part; I mean its a war movie. They never got too preachy about it or melodramatic. Sometimes you go into a movie just wanting that kind of familiar setup and its what you get.

Admittedly, part of the plot is that the children in Battle School aren't random children, they've picked out all the world's child prodigies. Its as if they yanked young Mozart out of music lessons and sent him to Officer Candidate School.

1 - Pinchak has actually aged considerably since Let Me In....which is good thing, I mean he looks more menacing now.

According to the credits, he specifically directed episode 9 "Baelor" and episode 10 "Fire and Blood" in season one, though he is also listed as directing the as-yet-unamed episodes 1, 2, and 10 of season 2.
