@Nethlem: Its called "reverse importation" — you see, Japanese Blu Rays and DVDs sell for about *three times* as much in Japan...simply because the companies there can get away with it.
@Kermi: "OAV" and "movie" are contradictory: there was the TV series, which ran out of money, then the movie finale, the aptly named "End of Evangelion"...much like Firefly's "Serenity"
@Ceiling90: 1 - it is illogical to argue strongly held beliefs about a movie ending which you openly admit you watched so long ago you have difficulty remembering it.
@Ceiling90: ...No. Simply no. Nothing suggests that. Nothing in a brief, 2 minute scene with almost NO dialogue implies any of this "passion", "Fragility", or "strength" you're mentioning. You're inventing that.
@Ceiling90: ....The "Composite Asuka Theory" is the ravings of a madman. The only reason it has legs is because the English dub DVD commentary foolishly repeated something they heard on a messageboard.
@Ceiling90: he chose to go back to the real world, which is full of pain, but that's what makes it real.
@ElimGarak: No. None of the philosophical positions within the Eva storyline are based on religious symbols. At all.
@ElimGarak: " the word "Evangelion" is a christian word, it means Gospel. We picked it because we thought it sounded cool" — series creator Hideaki Anno
@ElimGarak: There *were* no prophecies!
@ElimGarak: No. None of it is based on religious themes. They've flatly stated this.
@ElimGarak: It is loosely, but recognizably, like episodes 8 through 19 of the original series.
@The Wolf Kin: that's odd
@blareruin: I'm the "V" they refer to repeatedly during FUNicon as "that guy who keeps mailing in Evangelion questions". I had more for Nathanael Harrison about the sound editing process (do they still use camel screams as the base for the Eva screams like in End of Eva?) but they didn't ask them all. I sent the…
@ElimGarak: Mari's new but she's only in for like 5 minutes, as a cameo setting her up for the next movie. She's not really "a pilot" on "the team" in that sense.
@YoungWilliam: Angels come from Adam. During Second Impact Adam spread "Angel eggs" which shot across the world....presumably most landed on the ocean floor and weren't found....but remember, that in episode 10 they actually found an Angel egg before it hatched.
@hyperblackchi: I run Evangelion panels at national level cons (I'm at NYCC nowadays) check out this part of my panel where I explain the "Rebuild is a Sequel Theory".
@blareruin: ....John Burgmeier?! Is that you?
THANK YOU for not once mentioning "all the religious symbols", which the series' own creators have stated to be meaningless. People fixate on those too much.
Although the voice actress playing Rei does sing the closing song "Fly Me To the Moon" several times in the original TV series, "Rei, the character" never did.....and it never actually appears at any point in Rebuild of Evangelion.
