My sister had a tiny little dog and I was staying at her place for the weekend and woke up to him biting my toes-not being cute and playful but trying to draw blood. I was an adult so obviously could get him to knock off the behavior but if it was a toddler or a baby and he was biting on their fingers/toes?

That's about all I can fathom... I actually love German Shepards and most large breeds of dogs. I'm an animal person. I was clowning on the OP because German Shepards are by and large trained to obey and attack. If they weren't so successful, they wouldn't be the number one military/police dog.

My 19lb cat should probably be put down... just saying. She could suffocate me by crawling onto my chest when I'm sleeping.

Ban the German Shepards as well! They dominate police forces and tend to bring down criminals by biting and attacking them.

This made me laugh on a story where I didn't think there was any humor. Thanks.

Agreed. Reading what happened to her is even worse, don't click on the link if you haven't already. I had body images growing up because of my grandmother and my mom but I can't actively remember completely avoiding any reflective surface. Heck, I was always looking to try and find all of this 'fat' I thought I had. I

I actually should have left out the 'already' on my initial post. While it's foolish to believe everyone is aesthetically pleasing, it's even more foolish to believe that looks determine someone's worth in any way. Unfortunately, that is the world we live in. It sounds like she's surrounded by people who support and

Or... *gasp!* Chik-fil-A?!?!??!

It takes a certain type of cruelty to hurt a child. That girl is a fighter and it's a shame she's internalized a sense of being 'ugly' already.

Nah, you're cool. I just changed my screen name from pingooblau. We've been friendly before :).

A friend of mine has never been on time to anything. Ever. That might sound like hyperbole but it's not. She can never get it together and I learned when we were teens to tell her to be ready for something at least 30 minutes ahead of when it was supposed to happen. I just cannot understand that... being a minute late

This is one of the best responses to criticism I've read in quite some time. You sound like a really great person.

no one asked you!! ;)

It made the unforgivable mistake of playing that damn "Let it go" eleventy million times.

Your first error is mistaking Lindy West as an actual journalist. With her it's either a fat hate crime or a misogynistic troll. That woman writes like an over caffeinated 13 year old.

Different departments do differ but that wasn't the initial idea posted. Anyway, I don't want to be nitpicky as it's Friday and I hope everyone has a great weekend! Your sister sounds tough and I can't imagine how hard that must have been for her. We've lost several people in my previous line of work and those deaths

My father was with our city police department for decades. When I was younger and as a teen I knew everyone there along with the emergency dispatchers. Our county paid them well and most had been there for several years if not a decade or more (in various management positions as time moved forward). So anecdotes

I don't know what county you live in but I applied to one of these several years ago and it was well paid. I made it through the third stage but there were five if memory serves correctly. The first two stages were exams and the third was a real world simulation where you're trying to take calls/dispatch and juggle

Thank you for this. That is seriously some nutty behavior and if the gender roles were reversed this would have an entirely different tone.

I'm not really seeing it either. The dispatcher needs to get as much information as quickly as possible to send to police units and if he/she can't understand what the caller is saying that needs to be mentioned.
