This is the part I do not understand when I speak with co-workers who consider themselves “fiscally conservative”. I want them to stand at hospital doors and look someone in the eye and say “sorry, no medical care for you” directly to people’s faces. These are people willing to pay in what they can to participate in

No one in this country with less than a college education is losing their (desirable)jobs to immigrants, legal or otherwise.

Thanks for your thoughtful & eloquent essay. I, as a father of a son with ASD, share your concerns.

I was paralyzed 40 years ago. To date I have spent $30,000 on Roho cushions alone. The average paralyzed person will spend millions of dollars in health care and fall farther and farther behind their non disabled peers.

Medicaid cuts that are far deeper than previously proposed, would shift the burden onto the states. Obamacare made sure that this program continued to be funded, now its going to be gutted. His brother is not a shut in, he just won’t be able to afford minimal health care. Not to mention the Medicare tax cuts that

1 - Trump (and the Republicans) are actively choosing to hurt him (and millions of others) and we knew this going in to the election.

Should have stopped after paragraph 1. He’s sharing a personal story related to healthcare. Please explain how a discussion about immigration, which is being constantly litigated elsewhere, would have enhanced this article.

“I struggle to understand why your anger on this one issue is any different than some generic Trump voter’s anger about losing her job to an immigrant. “

Perhaps you should consider that the author’s anger here is based directly on specific policy changes Republicans are currently proposing and trying to pass that

Dafuq?

Thank you for this.

In general he did a lot of extremely liberal things, but yeah ... Vietnam was a thing that happened.

I still cannot believe that motherfucker is our president.

I’ve been thinking recently how funny it is that after seven years of promising to have a super-awesome health care bill with no downsides, when they actually have to turn in their homework it’s such an atrocious proposal that hospitals, doctors, insurance companies, the AARP, ultra-conservative Republicans, moderate

Yeah. My daughter is disabled and on a state Medicaid waiver program, which charges a parental fee based on a sliding scale. I still pay about $6500/year for the parental fee, but it acts as a secondary insurance that picks up everything our primary insurance doesn’t. It is a lifesaver, and I rarely if ever post about

This article hits home for me. I was paralyzed at the age of 21 in 2014, and while I’ve had a very lucky recovery, I will always face a lifetime of related medical costs. I know that there are millions of people in similar situations, and it filled me with rage to watch Paul Ryan give that fucking PowerPoint

I expect a great deal of humanity in these comments. A hundred times more than I expect from this administration. Great article!

Did he stop having sex too, or what?

This is a better dis track than either of those.

To be fair, a parade through the streets of Dallas is totally foreign territory for the Cowboys.

Sure, Tampa’s GM is a genius, yet when I get caught unloading the Bishop in an NHL arena I’m some kind of a pervert.
