@SOD_OFF: My mother (who loves her) excuses her constant avoidance/ignorance/assy behavior with complaints about the liberal media.

@bluebears: I'm thinking he meant to teach her that it's ok to do it. I mean, nobody really teaches you how to pee, you just pee naturally. Everything pees. But since a parent would be unconcerned about "teaching" a son to pee behind a tree, so should parents be similarly unconcerned about teaching their daughters…
I read about this yesterday and got SO EXCITED that the lead scientist on this project is a woman. It's really, really awesome. And having a dual degree in Oboe Performance and Biology/Chemistry is fucking crazy. She must be amazing.
@That-Dude: Nice in person doesn't a moral person make. Especially if you're doing really fucked up shit for a living. Like voting against the eradication of gross civil rights violations.
@johnva: gender norms are an effective tool for asserting social dominance."
@inannamute: I'd say that, even though the Rose thing was really sad (I loved Rose), I think that the end to his relationship with Donna was an excellent example of heroic sacrifice. And an unusual one—the whole "can't be with my love blah blah" thing has been done*, but there's something sadder, to me, about losing…
@TheCatlady: Well I'm not necessarily able to feed my animals on a regular 12-hour schedule, nor am I able to effectively keep them separated.
@shoroko: To be fair, I do feel like Supernatural's angst is less about dead women and more about, specifically, the way some men deal with the death of some women. The boys' angst isn't caused by the death of their mother; it's caused by their father's reaction to that death.
@This is not the commentor you were looking for...: Doctor Who is definitely big on the sacrifice for the sake of heroism.
@small-fox: Didn't they see the SEASON FINALE?! HE HAS A HEART. MORIARTY SAID SO.
@snoringmeatball: Ok, so you say it's not a sport, so she has to be skinny.
@madgetheripper: "Chubby" bodies aren't aesthetically pleasing?
@kicklegs: Hahaha I love how everyone's like KEEP FATTY CAT! And everyone I know in real life is like, Dude. Four animals? Really? (The dog is particularly high maintenance, too.)
@skinnycat: I don't think having a fat cat is the end of the world, but I do know that fat cats tend to have more health problems, and that having one very fat cat and two cats who can't eat enough—that's not good. Really it's not good for any of them, just quality of life issues.
The implications of this seem CRAZY to me. Like, sci-fi miniseries crazy.
I think it's funny. Because everyone (reasonable) does know it's a myth, and mostly because Reason and Season rhyme! And why not celebrate reason?
@Ipomoea: What if her current therapist has some suspicions about her former therapist? Like, suspicions about his sketchy behavior with other clients? (This is a genuine question; I know very little about medical ethics and so on.)
@Nancy Lorenz: Aw, gee thanks.
@bluebears: I think I love you.
