I don't know, and a quick search didn't help much. I would think they could be an expert witness and testify to exactly how they collected the evidence, but I don't know for sure.

Thank you for the advice! I actually volunteered at a rape crisis center when I was in college, and it was a fantastic experience. If I manage to get an ER job at some point, I'll definitely study up on it, because you never know what a patient may reveal during an exam, even if they aren't there to report an assault.
