My grandmother was terrifying as a driver in her old age. But that wasn’t due to age. She was always a terrifying driver. Never once got a speeding ticket, either. She did get pulled over multiple times, but evidently had an incredibly high charisma stat, plus multiple charisma buffs.

It’s funny that anyone thinks that the Secret Service can order any president or ex-president to do anything at any time. Is there a law? Never seen one. Otherwise they’re just other government employees.

Dammit. I thought I fixed that mistake before anyone noticed.

My person, the entire US commercial airline fleet numbers a grand total 5,882 planes.

In Q4 of 2023, there were 288,000,000 vehicles operating on US roads.

That is quite literally an order of magnitude more than the number of planes in the US squared

Especially when you’re in an illegal cross-country race.

The New York Times did some quick math, and it found that if you take Grand Central’s system and expand it across the entire NYC Subway, it would cost right around $5 billion.

They need to update their songs. I would go with stuff like Smoke on the Water, any and everything from Bob Marley or the Grateful Dead, Most of Jefferson Airplane, and the like.

A shredder? You have that big ‘ol engine right there capable of digesting flights of geese and the occasional ground crewman.

I recently drove a Tesla (Model 3) for the first time because they had a driving experience thing come to my corporate office. This is absolutely no replacement for people actually paying attention when they’re piloting a multi-ton vehicle (and I wasn’t behind the wheel long enough to know if it consistently works),

It’s insane, they turn so early they need to basically make two turns of the steering wheel instead of one smooth movement. The angle they go at also means they aren’t turning into the proper lane and end up in the right lane instead of left

Oh, great, the release cable can only be expected to work once. As if you have a problem with the cable/plug, it will only happen once.

For fuck’s sake, proofread your headline.

“My God, Bones - what have I done?”

We can’t add more comprehensive driver education

Stopping for two seconds is inefficient in time, energy, and morale when there is absolutely no one in sight.

My personal theory is that business journalism is pushing the idea that companies are pushing their employees to come back to the office to try to goose the value of commercial office space.

I worked from home for my current employer for 25 years. All of a sudden, RTO means even those who were full time WFH. Minimum 3 days a week, but even then, the two days that you spend WFH have to have “valid reasons.” I have to fill out a tracker every week to explain why I was at home. They are tracking both badge

Companies are still considering a return to the office from WFH?  How have they not made that decision or progression yet if they were going to do it in the first place.  I applaud companies that kept WFH like mine did.  My life is immeasurably better for it.

Return to work is the reason for increased pollution and inflation. For almost three years, all revenue of all entities was down. It’s no coincidence gas prices (all prices of all goods) shot up the day after ‘return to the office’ was being talked about.
