I was just saying that moves that require multiple turns in a turn based games are a valid game mechanic, they are not like loading times or save stations.
Also, I often play games that are way older than FFT, and I have great fun doing so, thanks.

uh no. cast times are actually an interesting mechanic if used well, as you have to think better about your moves, protect or block the caster for those turns and so on. They also make the spells look more important\menacing\magical.
