It was nice to see the "news" segment, just the guys sitting around talking about cars. I don't know why, but the hanger/studio bits always seem off. I don't know if it's the director's pacing, the on air talent's limited experience or just poor editing. Still, there was improvement. The bootlegger run had some fun

@buick61: You're right, it is a '55. I miss typed, my bad.

'58 Pontiac Star Chief - It has that jet age mid century modernist new frontier thing going for it. Plus it's an Indian's face on a jet plane!

Well, it was better. Do they really have to explain what an Evo is to their target demographic though? Tanner seemed more relaxed, though I'm just not sure he's right for on air talent. The Aston segment was good, though I still don't like Wood, Rutledge Wood. His name is like his personality. Nash's comment at the

Starion!

Wonder if this might mean we'll get the non-raised roof version Tourneo Connect eventually?

Is this going to like one of those "roaming gnome" stories where later on photos of your pants zany adventures will surface on flickr?

@Jstas has gas!: Yes, Transits have been around forever. Transit Connects have only been around since 2002. As duurtlang said, this replaced the Escort Van. Don't take my original post the wrong way, it was meant only in regards to how the Connect fills a gap in the North American market.

@duurtlang: Actually, you're looking too deep into my statement. My thought was that the Connect met the same criteria tha the original K-car based Caravan/Voyagers did, by offering a compact, simple, FWD, boxy van that could be outfitted for commercial or passenger use. This type of vehicle pretty much disappeared

I love that the Transit Connect is really just Ford's interpretation of the original Chrysler minivan, before the "mini" was bloated out of it.

Now playing

Seriously, no love for Farrah Fawcett hawking malaise era Cougars?

Loosen the tie and unbutton the collar, then you can "rock that look"!

Let me get this straight, a "race series" based on a car that someone might actually be able to buy? Not one that just has stickers that approximate a real car's appearance? That's crazy talk, or at the very least, communism!

To be honest, when else are you really going to get the opportunity to photograph a genuine "supermodel" for free.

I actually like it. Then I also liked the Kia Soul'ster.

Wow. Caddy has taken the first gen. Renault Twingo single box design, applied "Art and Science" sharp edges, chrome and rubber band shod big wheels. Then topped it off with gee whiz scissor doors. Honestly, this really feels like they're taking a page from Aston Martin's playbook and this is their Cygnet. This could

Seriously? Then after the holidays, what the hell do you do with the dept. store kiosk that's been in your home for the season? Oh wait, maybe the last door is for a new house so you just move after the holidays. Look Ma! No post holiday clean up!

The Transit Connect, with it's service track record (in production since 2001) and it's ubiquitousness it would seem to make the most sense. That said, I really like the Karsan for it's "jonnycab" futurism and purpose built nature, but those same qualities scream "high operating costs"!
