“the Chad ’n’ Becky set”—love this.

Nothing I might not have done! Mostly I’m relieved because I’m probably headed out that way to watch.

What I love best about this is Trump Jr. retweeting Ana Marie Cox.

Right, and Quaker tradition is at least historically Christian—even if current practice has broadened out to become more inclusive. I could have been clearer on that point though, sorry. But I think the picture in people’s heads when they hear “Christian school” doesn’t match up very well to either Episcopal or Quaker

He’s going to St. Andrew’s, which is a day school but is still bound to be a good influence for the poor kid.

He’s going to St. Andrew’s Episcopal in Potomac, Maryland. Technically I guess it’s a Christian school, but by that standard so is Sidwell Friends (where the Obama girls and Chelsea Clinton went). It has a good academic reputation as far as I know.

Fair enough—it’s a thing worth debating, for sure. I can say this: I sure miss having a president I wasn’t inclined to second-guess.

She’s from West Virginia. She comes back to Charleston pretty often and is wonderfully low-key—goes to church with her parents, does fundraisers, takes the girls to minor league baseball games and out for pizza. But no, you don’t want to fuck with her or especially with her family.

Would she even have a lifestyle blog or an acting career without her looks?

From the Office of the Devil’s Advocate: Recess appointments are temporary anyway, so it would have given ammo to the looneys while changing little to nothing.

And when they send people home it’s with such regret and love. All those group hugs. Much nicer than “pack your knives and go.”

I’m not proud of this because it does not speak well of my taste in men, but I think he’s strangely hot. I like watching him knead dough.

Do you have some connection to Ashland? It’s not a name that gets called out that often. (I have family near there.)

Reporting from left field here to say I bought a JLo bra at Big Lots one time for maybe $6 and I swear it was among the best I’ve ever owned.

I’m old enough to remember in the 60s, pre-Vatican II, when everybody was supposed to cover their head for mass (I wasn’t Catholic but had friends who were). You could buy cheapo little veils at the drugstore, with the hair nets and shower caps:

I read somewhere she was given a rosary and asked the Pope to bless it, which sounds pretty Catholic to me.

I know! And he was hot. And French. (He’s at right below—the photo’s in reverse order of the names.)

Absolutely. And most if not all of them have made a fuckton of money off young people, while accepting zero responsibility for the power that gives them or the messages they’re sending. It’s the worst sort of entitlement.

Keep giving us hope, young people!
