My cat is named f-14.

He wasn't the only one who "designed it," though. There was a group of people and he was involved. The guy is smart and makes good points but he's just being dogmatic and lamenting the death of pure air to air knife fighting.

I loved watching "Wings Over The Gulf," when I was growing up. They had a certain kind of production value that made them really cool. Maybe it's just nostalgia, but I can still watch a lot of it today and be really entertained.

All of this is fixable eventually. But if they can reduce the jitter, what about latency? I appreciate your knowledge, but from a macro perspective, it's having to make all of these systems work together that makes it all so expensive. So I don't think it's just people being negative. But the cost can be offset by

...And with the much more rumble-y experience of operating a tank

I hope they make the helmet work. That kind of system is awesome in theory. I was just pointing out that these things are all happening at once and raising cost and making a mess of things. The deck issue doesn't contribute to program cost in the way that the helmet issue did, but things like that make the program's

I agree with you. On point number 2 though I think the only reason why a gun would be less effective at CAS is because of the threat of MANPADS. Everyone has them now. (fighters in syria, the separatists in ukraine.) So many low flying Ukraine aircraft have been shot down.

The JHMQS (helmet) and Distributed Aperture System (sensor fusion,) had to be reworked in 2011 because of issues of resolution and latency. The image of the world projected on the inside of the visor is too low in resolution, and doesn't refresh quickly enough.

This is a hypothetical with the proposed f414 EPE engines that bring the T/W up to something like 1.1 from .90-ish, which brings it up higher than the legacy hornet which is no slouch in power and maneuverability.

Growlers are awesome. One of the reasons why I think more Super Hornets is a good idea, to keep production open to make more growlers. I feel like they're a good insurance policy if all this LO stuff doesn't pan out properly.

Parasitic drag makes transonic performance a problem for like every supersonic capable aircraft ever made. Besides, you're missing the point, or ignoring it just to argue. The point is, the plane will primarily be purchased to FLY CAP IN THE CANADIAN NORTH.

It's not underpowered. At all. Do you work for Lockheed or something? the f414 is a good engine.

I think more attention needs to be paid to the fact that control of the EM/RF spectrum is more important than low observability on the x-band is. Especially in an austere fiscal environment. ESPECIALLY when you're Canada and you won't be striking anyone first, so the element of surprise isn't as important. I think

There is nothing fundamentally wrong with the hornet air frame other than the pylon issue. The f-35 is just too expensive for a limited feature set. Its like buying plasma TV in 1997.

that's an f-15, she flew f-15's. I love this strip tho.

Can't wait to see those pics! Keep up the good work while we all envy what you've been able to experience. Is photography your day job?

I know they acknowledge "foreigner style," as a key influence but this just looks like American girls on tumblr to me.

The Omars have a really cool paint job. I love the "flanker," hornets.

I love the Sun Downers.

I love this song.
