Aside from the fact that concern-trolling is just petty and small minded, from a purely statistical, fact based standpoint, I never understand why people think shaming others is an effective strategy to get them to lose weight. We’ve been shaming people for being overweight for decades and it hasn’t worked so... why

Sure, but also a lot of those “legit complaints” are framed as “this thing is objectively terrible because X.” It’s fine not to like something. But I’ve seen very, very, VERY few people express their dislike for something in a way that doesn’t denigrate the enjoyment someone else derived from the exact same thing.

I mean, it kinda sounds to me like Tyra was seriously traumatized by Naomi’s bullying, and hasn’t fully processed it, even all these years later. I feel like Naomi saying “it’s not that deep” is actually not true at all. This is a person who clearly suffers from some major psychological issues, and rather than take

Totally agree. There are so many people on the internet who bloviate constantly about how some piece of pop culture is ABSOLUTELY OBJECTIVELY BAD when they have a very, VERY loose understanding of classical storytelling constructs, which to my mind you should have if you’re going to get all up on your high horse and

omg yes, this, thank you. If characters always acted with rationality, most stories wouldn’t exist. Or at the very least they’d wrap up VERY quickly.

It makes no sense whatsoever

Theater attendance was way down before Netflix.

Honestly I kinda love that they don’t release viewership numbers.

“First of all, quite frankly, social media is the toilet of the internet.”

I have said this for years. I am a Cristiano Ronaldo is gay truther.

The bigger problem with relegating cinematography and editing to the commercials is that, as many have pointed out, you literally can’t make a movie without them. If you’re not going to award the people responsible for *filming the movies* and *arranging the length and sequence of the movies* then this show might as

Yeah I said to a friend “So basically this is going to be the Tony’s.”

Totes. And it would be great if the editorial stuff would at least have that self-awareness as well.

Nah.

It’s so irritating to me too. This study suggests that these vitamins might not make a difference in *one* type of health outcome. It doesn’t say anything about the other reported benefits of Vitamin D and Omega 3's - like, for instance, protection against osteo-arthritis for Omega 3. As long as I keep running, I’m

Yeah, it’s really annoying when people are like “Well, we didn’t win so fuck it.” It completely ignore the wider context which demonstrates tremendous progress that’s been made. I feel like a lot of people expect change to happen over night and that’s literally not how anything works.

I phone banked too! Though, I got one lovely woman who was super excited to tell me all about her early voting plan for Beto, and how much she hates Ted Cruz. She said she was going to vote on Sunday, early, and bring her ID because “that’s how they try to get you.” She was a delight. Beto probably isn’t going to win

I felt like her filmmaking was lovely in A Wrinkle In Time, but the script was atrocious.

Yes. Thank you. Speaking also as a fan of his work, I think he encourages nuanced discussion and complex contemplation of these topics - in no way does he try to determine “who is worthy of compassion,” as if literally anything about his writing or personal philosophy implies that he thinks it’s a zero sum game. And

It’s also telling that she held out until the Tennessee state race was so close to endorse her opponent.
