I actually like the cutting rope feature, if only because it adds authenticity to the Rogue experience.

I leave mine on, but my mic usually goes through a gate plug-in or some other cutoff in the game so you only hear me when I talk, not when I’m typing/burping/breathing.
It’s just easier to have it on and remember to maintain mic etiquette than to slave another key to push-to-talk.
