The rest, well, that's what the status update is for - to allow everyone to know that he popped the question, to not have to type 200 wall replies of "Thank you," and to not have to create a group to give everyone your new number.
Focus on getting it right next time and perhaps more people would focus on the premise of the argument presented instead.
