If you’re going to play Ranked it can take some time but you can play the Grand Prix and the Versus modes while you wait. Never had a problem to find people online on the party mode, but it’s much more lively during the Party Crash events.

I got DK Tropical Freeze as a prize on Club Nintendo before it died to be replaced by My Nintendo. It’s an incredible game, worth your time if you enjoy 2d platformers.
