Cockring?
Yep, remembered that along with a great deal of other useless knowledge. Mio-geosynclinal cycle anyone? Once an amateur geologist, always an amateur geologist. It still won't land me a six-figure job with a fossil fuel extraction company.
No kidding. When a petty bureaucrat takes money to his job in a way tilted toward the giver we call it "bribery" and it's a crime. When a politician does it we call it "legislation" and it's legal because they made sure the rules said they could do it.
Yeah, it has to do with tectonics, continental margins and orogenic activity, but there are a number of areas up and down the west coast where large dunes form. It's the difference between what they call a "submergent" non-active continental coastline like the east coast and an "emergent" tectonically active coastline…
This is the sadly predictable result of turning over control of our government to commercial interests. Representatives will represent their donors not their voters. It's not even a partisan issue. They all play the same game and we end up with anti-competitive rules designed by entrenched interests. Until that…
Funny you should say that. It was only after CA went all Democratic that the intractable problems began to get ironed out. Establishing the non-partisan redistricting and top-two primaries made representatives more conscious about actually representing their constituents on either side of the aisle. Just a couple of…
Wow, I just flashed back to geology class where it was explained why dunes form where they do. I'll spare you.
Yum! Orpplange!
Not dessert. I saw the ocean in the background. Would this be Pismo then?
True, one apt comparison to the fancy cars lineup and the new Apple iWhatevers is that they all cater to a relatively thin layer of consumers at the top of the income spectrum in the small number of wealthy nations, representing perhaps a couple percent of the world's population.
Nope. Couldn't care less about new iPhones. Never owned one, not likely to in the near future. I do own cars, however.
Silly headline. You just found another way to compare apples and oranges.
Also Total Recall, at least the Arnie version has a robot taxi. Haven't seen the remake (and why the hell did they do a remake of that movie?)
All perceptions of aesthetic endeavors are subjective after all.
Do you not have access to dictionary.com?
Granted, I didn't see the '97 remake (no naked chick) but I was unimpressed with the '71 original. Perhaps I would be impressed as a 17-year old playing hooky to see it, but I dunno. Do you have to be stoned to enjoy it or something?
Well then I'm at a loss as to why anyone would think that's a great movie. Just some obnoxious jerk driving like crazy. I found it unsatisfying.
The best chase scene is still Bullitt, but the movie around it was dull as dirt. I won't even elaborate on the craptastic Gone in 60. The Blues Brothers was a great movie that also had cars in it.
