Maybe my former in-laws were doing it wrong, but they used to make these and they were always like rubber.

"...what temperature they're dancing at..." Nice turn of phrase.

I have a favorite charity that I usually donate mine to. However, I always keep ONE old phone in the house. I don't buy the insurance on my family's phones, so that's my backup in case someone loses/drops/flushes one. I rotate them so that once someone in the house gets a new phone, their old one becomes the backup

Thanks, Lifehacker. That was a fun diversion. A nice treat for a Friday lunch break.

When I was a child, my dad's job had us moving every 1-2 years. When you think of your stuff in terms of, "Is this worth paying someone to move?" you do not accumulate a lot.

Were you changing socks daily and still had odor? Or were you wearing your lucky socks until they fell apart? Enquiring minds want to know.

This is why I won't eat the cookies they give away free at the bank. The day I saw some grubby kids digging in the cookie jar was the last day I ate one. Acckkk.

It sounds like the NYT reporter is patronizing a salad bar that charges by the pound. Most restaurant salad bars around here are a flat fee, all you can eat. So, yes, his way of getting the most for his money is probably different than most.

The US Postal Service has been getting pickier about what they will accept... and since this is not, strictly speaking, a rectangle, they would either refuse to accept it, or charge a non-machinable surcharge of 20c. There are other ways to make your own envelopes if you run out.

For the cables, I'm more of a ziplock sandwich bag kind of girl. I like to be able to see everything. I keep all my cables, extra earbuds, all that electronic detritus individually bagged and labelled in a dedicated drawer. But then, I'm probably a little OCD.

Silly Rabbit, thieves aren't smart enough to read Lifehacker!

Same here. I quit pop once for several months. Started up again and was immediately back on it. Trouble is, I honestly don't think it's that bad for me, so it's hard to muster up the strength to kick it.

VOTE: Foxit. I set the rectangle tool default as white with a white border and use it like (what else?) white-out.

I found it and played with it a bit... but how do you actually use the character you made? The help file isn't very helpful.

I used to do Pinecone. They used to pay $5 per survey. Then they cut the pay and made the surveys longer and more repetitive. (How many times do I have to tell you? I don't buy dog food for my dog! He is on a special diet. Quit sending me these surveys!) I finally quit. It was great while it lasted though.

Wait, what? Paypal will let me "buy" some security for $5? How kind of them to think of my safety online. Since they have all my banking info and all. Extortion, anyone?

In my experience, knowing you are almost finished at a job makes it harder to do the job. All you can think about is leaving. I have given 2 weeks notice. I have given more. I found that giving more notice just drags things out. Yes, I was a key person, was leaving on good terms, and thought I was doing them a favor.

For a while, my old car did not have a working radio. Although it was kind of annoying, it gave me some peace and quiet to think. Now that I have a radio again, sometimes I will tune in classical music just to get away from the constant flow of words. It de-stresses me.

@Chispea: Cox is not available in my area but here is a possible work-around. Check and see if Cox has a setting that allows forwarding. My cable provider allows me to set my email so everything automatically forwards to another account. I forward my cable-provider-based email to a webmail account; i.e., Gmail or
