Having never ridden in or driven the Mark VII and limited to short jaunts in a Mark VIII that wasn't mine I can only assume that the one word answer would be "no".

Through 6 years and 3 different variations of the Crown Vic I would say I've spent the most time in one of these. From a cushy LX to the P71 civi versions, with nearly 100,000 miles between them... without a single problem other then regular wear and tear items. Not one major mechanical malfunction, or minor for that…

Sometimes after reading something like this it's good to be brought up from the depths of despair when it comes to the plight of mankind.
