Love this post. I am studying to become a psychologist and I just want to add: Do not be afraid to seek therapy. More people need it than you (and they) realize. It is not shameful in any way. Get help, and have them help you to learn to cope with this illness.

As someone who suffers from clinical depression, one thing that helps me immensely is just stay immersed in something. An idle mind can be the real devil's playground with depression, so when I'm down, I try to throw myself into work or hobbies (games, sports, puzzles), the less I think about what's dragging me down,

This is a great post and all of this is great advice. I would like to add to your point about medication. If you've tried some combinations before or if you're reluctant to try any at all–and if it's legal where you live–I highly suggest you think about using marijuana to reduce depression.
