I LOL’d pretty much all episode long at Tiago’s so-called police work. Dude is out here threatening, browbeating, assaulting, releasing, or fucking every material lead. Just perverting the course of justice all over the place.

As a note, the V-2/Nazi storyline is utterly non-sensical even for the standards of this show. So there’s a bunch of student at the University of California that apparently are close to solving the rocket issues? Fine, except for some reason only that one student who seems to be working on it?

For me, one of the big signals of how bad this show is is that we are five episodes in and I have no idea how I would simply describe this show to someone or even tell them what kind of a show it is. I legitimately burst out laughing when Tiago not only started wrestling with that kid, but also seemed to have really big difficulties holding him down before they just let the boy to run away. That was some big hero stuff there.

I like Danette as a critic; her reviews of Lodge 49 really got the show. That said, this series isn’t really interested in exploring or doing anything interesting with Latin American religious mythology. If it were, it would have. I confess to skipping those paragraphs in the review.

The first act of this movie is by itself one my favorite action films of all time. Anderson is a middling director, but the first 1o minutes of Soldier should be taught in film school, its as iconic as the steps scene in Battleship Potemkin.
