It certainly can be ethical, yes. When you’re adopting from very poor countries with corrupt governments and/or chaotic situations where kids may have been separated from their parents by war or famine, the ethics can get really, really complicated.

One of my friends has been in an adoption holding pattern for five years, at a cost of $1,000s of dollars not just to the adoption agency, but to various county agencies that have to do home inspections and background checks. Adopting a kid, while worthy, is not easy, quick or inexpensive.

I would call Season 2 an interesting failure, rather than terrible.
