The CAFE penalties are low enough for some manufacturers. Usually German who can take it out of their margins. FCA pays a fair amount but if CAFE penalties are something Ford, GM, Honda, and Toyota can’t tolerate. Yet.
New st has exactly that type of eLSD. Same as GTI, and Hyundai N. Multi plated clutch with hydraulic pump, electronically operated.
My guess is it’s an electromechanical LSD. The brake based system (known as torque vectoring in Ford talk) will still be on the diesel version. The LSD is only for the gas version.
