I dislike it as well, but I learned how to work it. I don’t see why anyone else would have a problem.

The same shifter is used in the Audi A8. We haven’t heard any complaints about it from owners of those cars.

It does provide feedback, just not the way people are used to. There us still a gear position readout in the dash, and the selected position is illuminated on the shifter. I know from experience.

ZF makes the shifter for both vehicles, I would imagine that they operate similarly.

IT SAYS IN THE FREAKIN’ GAUGE CLUSTER! It also illuminates a letter on the shifter itself (pretty sure most normal auto shifters do the same thing).

Again, that’s on the buyer, NOT the manufacturer. I don’t agree with the use of the so-called yacht throttle (saw it called that once), but since I don’t work for FCA, there’s nothing I can do about except to learn how it works and commit that information to memory.

They still had the same shifter. Look at pictures if you do not believe me. Either A8 buyers are smarter than GC buyers, or they haven’t complained loud enough.

Reading the owners manual/quick start guide isn’t hard.

Tell that to BMW. They’re the ones who started this with the E65 7-series.

Here’s a question: How long had he owned it?

There is. I know the Rams with the 8AT have a release hidden behind a dash panel for use when on an alignment rack.

I agree. That’s why I like the one in the Challenger and Charger.

That’s on you, not the designers.

Then.why aren’t we hearing about incidents like this with the A8, which uses the same shifter?

Bawww

That’s on the individual user.

It’s called dyslexia.

I look at the shifter or the gauge cluster.

Welp.

This.
