High energy just doesn't go with slow-mo or epic moments well. The mountain exudes silence, just one person alone for miles in every direction 10,000 ft up. Maybe a soft trance track would have been ok, but any lyrics would have messed it up. I think the music was chosen well.

I agree more then I disagree with OP. With Mass Effect specifically, I'm not playing the role of a character, I'm playing the role of myself.
