While I do still believe it is likely that this naturally occurring virus, accidentally escaped from a lab (it just fits the puzzle of China’s behavior around the whole thing, way better than other explanations at this point). I don’t believe it was an engineered virus with a malicious intent.

If Sweden currnelt has 156 deaths per million, that is equivelant to the US having 51,480 deaths. Currently the US has 48,900. So Sweden is doing barely worse than the US on deaths per million currently.

Colds kill people all the time. You know all those pneumonia deaths? The vast majority of them started out as secondary infections to a cold or flu.

They are supposedly way more accurate than the nasal swab infection tests. And we have been relying on those for all this data.

That isn’t a metric to determine if their approach is sound. It is still entirely possible that Finland will have the same per capita deaths, all it takes is for Finland to take 7x as long to get to herd immunity or vaccination.

Now that antibody testing is underway and this thing is proving to be far more prolific than folks imagined, it is looking like the mortality rate is closer to 0.1% So that is closer to 200,000 deaths. But that is ONLY if we can keep the medical system from being overwhelmed at which the rates go up.

Lets focus on the deaths/millions pop number.

If Sweden is at the 25% infection-recovered rate people believe it is. And Norway and Finland are at 5% of the population infected-recovered, then those numbers are equivalent for the amount of people dying per infected.
