Same here. For the last 10 years, when giving the option in character creator I’m choosing a woman every time. It’s refreshing after all of my life of gaming to just hear a different voice, to live different stories and I actually think the voice acting to be better (Cyberpunk, Mass Effect, Assassin’s Creed).

Hang on now - are you saying your don’t find Generic Brooding Male Protagonist w/ Short Brown Hair #5721 extremely compelling?!?

Wow so brave

There’s some good ones. Hell Kazuma Kiryu is one of my favorite protagonists of all time (although he is Japanese which still puts him in minorities) and Kratos in how he has been written as of late is fantastic. But some of the women protagonists are so much more interesting than your MeatBrick PunchWall dude that

Games:

Personally, I prefer women protagonists these days. I just find it more interesting, as they’re often given deeper characterization than the dime-a-dozen stoic men protagonists. Plus, I play games to not be me. A woman is about as far from me as I can get.

AI is definitely not the right term here. More like advanced Fourier transforms... But it’s really nothing different than cleaning up other old media; we just now have the tech to do it.

It’s just marketing speak, most sensible people will understand the hyperbole. The biggest issue is preorder bonuses in the gaming industry in general. Disgusting tactic

Atlas seems to have this weird thing where they don’t want to ever include FES or PSP content in any of their re-releases of 3. It’s baffling because The Answer portion of FES is still absolutely canon to the overall Persona plotline (as much as there is one) and is even better then the base game imo.

Ya this went from insta-buy to meh real quick.

They’re cutting FES and P3P content? It’s the original base game only? WFT? Why would they even bother doing this if they’re going to cut literally ALL of the additional (and better) content?

Is that an honest question or rhetorical? If it’s honest, then about 18-24 months after Bioshock Infinite came out, reappraisals started appearing, from people who hadn’t been taken in by the hype the first time around, and who were buying game based on the ultra-hyped reviews you mention.

To really stick it to Molyneux, there needs to be a seed you find, that you can plant.  And it grows along with your character.

this is reddit, not 4chan

Yet another site succumbing to the enshittification of the internet.

The bandwidth itself is relatively cheap. At an average 1kb payload per request, Apollo’s 7 billion monthly requests add up to about $500 on AWS (where, as far as I know, Reddit is hosted). The compute costs of retrieving and assembling the request data are much harder to estimate but they’re going to be the bigger

I thought it was great. Grin on my face the whole time.  Our 6yo daughter had a blast and is now a huge Mario fan and we’re playing through her first Mario game together.

Great! I wanted to take my 6 year old daughter to see it, but she decided to wait until we could watch it at home since she hates how way-too-loud movie theaters are. After having to cover my ears any time a song started up in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 recently, I don’t really blame her.

It’s also not a death knell for its money-making run either; Puss in Boots - The Last Wish still cleaned up while running into its planned 40-days-after digital release.

The cross dressing in BOTW didn’t strike me as mockery. Maybe I missed some subtext. Link’s perfectly cool with it and the other characters think he looks good as a woman, IIRC.
