A practical solution is to just keep a spare deep cycle battery at home. When you go on a camping etc. trip where you would want it, bring it along. The rest of the time, don’t haul the extra 30kg for no reason.

U-238 just happens to be a dense, hard, thermally stable metal. In many warheads, the entire external body is made of U-238 for the double benefit of excellent atmospheric re-entry characteristics plus the increased yield.
