Once you go ssd it really doesn't matter what you boot. My OS X install boots in 5s on a sata II ssd, my fiancee's is under 2s on her sataIII ssd.

Only 1080p? What is this 2002? 1920x1200 at least man.
Sorry I must be missing something, how do you pin say your "my documents" directory to the task bar directly? instead of mashing it into the explorer jump list?
Does the metro screen let you search for files/settings/users/anything in addition to applications? Is the animation so fast that you can begin typing as soon as you hit the windows key and hit enter after you are done to get what you wanted to launch or are you waiting?
If you don't want a full fledged server it'd be easier to adapt the desktop version of ubuntu to your needs. I added apache, git-core, sshd, and a few other server daemons to mine for that reason. Just be sure to boot into a "mixed" boot level if you still want the gui, and not the gui only level regardless and you're…
Are you saying something intelligent with good reasons backing it up? No? Ok, then shut up. No one is hurting you.
You'd have to patch and recompile your kernel. It's one of those things about linux that make their way into the zeitgeist and give linux a bad name.
Assuming you don't have either drive encrypted (not really related but still relevant) then you should have no issue, just put linux on the ssd and you're golden. You might even be able to read the files on the second drive (linux support for hfs+ is poor but you do get read support pretty reliably with fuse).
Sorry I was unclear. Follow the instructions above with the following changes:
No, it isn't necessary, but rather an option. Just like you have that option on windows.
That would be why the OS X partition is left in place. Honestly, just chill.
It's the comment system, it encourages trolling.
Don't forget the networking. God windows' networking gives me nightmares.
For a toned down arch do remember http://archbang.org/
Don't install refit at all, use it as a live cd to repair the partition tables and that's it. Then the computer will default to osx if you do nothing and let you choose if you hold down option.
It runs all of my most important computers. Though I do have one mac.
Windows isn't even POSIX compliant unless you buy the "ultimate" version for several hundred extra. Whereas linux distributions are both POSIX compliant and free (gratis and libre for the most part).
Pretty sure that's the wrong link? Diskless NAS? What's that got to do with super slim laptops?
500 MB/s is ~3.9Gb/s. USB 3 is a max of 4.0 Gb/s of actual transfer (the other 1Gb/s is overhead) and most devices these days only transfer at 3.2Gb/s as per allowances in the spec for early producers.
And it's 2.5" so it wouldn't fit in ANY laptop of this class. Nice try though.
