I'd like to piggyback on this statement and say that probably the biggest reason I never started using Apple products is not because of Apple products themselves but because of arrogant, ignorant Apple users (if you are not an arrogant, ignorant Apple user, then this shouldn't upset you). For example, people telling

I use Android instead of Apple thanks to pure, irrational tribalism, cultural distaste for the branding and self-mythologizing of Apple, and the cumulative resentment of decades as a PC user enduring the endless mockery of Apple fans.

Or, you know, a shelf and just stack 'em. And what about fitted caps?

Who here is really ready for advice from a greasy kid in a backwards hat?

Actually, a 1995 keyboard might actually be better than the most of the ones you can buy today. Most people agree that the IBM Model M (which was pretty standard in the Dos/Win95 era of computing) are far superior to rubber dome keyboards and typically have an edge over the modern mechanical cherry switch keyboard.

"You'll get the sound quality you expect from Bose". Very diplomatic statement there.

I don't feel like this is really worth writing about... it looks like a typical workspace... a bland unergonomical desk with well, okay, some themed artwork... that's fine, but LH used to showcase really cool and neat stuff. Feels lately like the things being showcased are so-so. Maybe there's just nothing inventive

To state the obvious: audio books and podcasts! I listened to so many podcasts sitting in LA traffic.

I fully understand the desire to do something other than sitting while working but I don't believe that adding a treadmill to your desk is the answer. If you're working out it's imperative that you focus on the task at hand (getting fit, proper technique) and it seems unlikely that splitting that focus with office

RE: Tiger Direct. I bought an item via credit card from Tiger Direct. Product was fine and I was satisfied.

But, about six weeks thereafter, my credit card info I used in the TD order was used to purchase three laptops from WalMart.com to be picked up in the store in Chatsworth, California.

TigerDirect screwed me over when I built my first computer and lost my business forever. Newegg has always treated me right with price, selection and customer service, but I'm double checking all prices on Amazon now, too.

Depends on what you are going to school for.

I've presently got USAA for insurance (car, renters, valuable property (camera gear), motorcycle) and the rates are great - I could save a little money by switching, but the customer service is, to me, more than worth the (slight) extra expense. If you have the option, think about giving them a call.

I stopped reading the "Saving $$ on Entertainment tips" when they suggested taking up juggling. Seriously?

I saved $800 a year on car insurance by switching from Geico. No, really. Geico always charged me $1600 per year for 2 BMW's and I was with them for years. Then one day I decided to call around and Liberty Mutual got me the same coverage for $800/year. Lesson? Don't get comfortable and always check! :)

This. So, basically, your iPhone exists as a status symbol, yeah? I mean, you could totally have a "distraction free" phone right this second, what with the feature phone you literally call out at the beginning of the article.

I still have my motorola razr from 2007 I could reactivate if I wanted to do that.

So you're paying $90+ a month for an iPhone for no reason?? It sounds like you should just get a prepaid phone; or at the very least unlock that iPhone and get prepaid service.

Being a student, office is so affordable it would seem silly not to go with it. Another consideration for students is comparability with endnote or whatever other citation software is out there. Not sure how libre office would handle that
