My neighbor has the 1.6L with the 6 speed manual, and mpg only gets that low when I drive. The neighbor pretty much hypermiles it with his driving.

Yeah, got the Benz SOHC V12 (M137 engine, 2001-2002) for that reason. Big engine that was somewhat fuel efficient for its size.

Mercedes V12. The old one was actually pretty reliable. I have the newer, simpler one. Just make sure to correct the spark plug gap for the newer engine (I verified Mercedes doesn’t gap plugs before installing,) or you’ll end up with failed coil packs.

Yeah, I don’t see this car being financially viable. I bought 2001 Mercedes S600 (family of four) which has a much simpler V12 and it was only $5,000. After another $5K fixing it up, it’s still only worth $5K.
