@nickneo: You can probably bring in Mercedes to the list too, since VW acquired Auto Union from Mercedes Benz in 1965 and at least some of the engine design was the work of the M-B engineers.

@nickneo: They were built at the Audi plant in Neckarsulm and powered by engines shared with the Audi 100s sold in Germany. Whether they were more Audi or VW, they were certainly a collaborative effort.

Seattle certainly seems to have its priorities in order.

@Baby Benz = long-term luxury beater: I've been repeatedly warned off buying cars with this engine. Many in the old M-B community think this was a time when they got it wrong. If you want to spend the dough, it is your dough. Realize that this car is a cam wear issue away from being the other car pictured in this

How did the Porsche-Audi 924/924GTS/944/924S/944S2/968 not make the cut?

The good news is we can finally stop hearing reasons to preserve the court system that is so instrumental in perverting our democracy. If it can convict this driver of taking someone's life, then just letting most guilty people skate no longer serves the purpose of not denying the innocent their liberty no matter

@KotakuLand: I rented a 2011 Camry recently. It really put paid to all the propoganda efforts to convince people that Toyotas stopped being superior to domestic cars at some point. Why would I want a car built by someone so stupid that they insult more than a million potential Volt customers through childish slights

@anitesh.jaswal: The M3's one nice characteristic is that it doesn't have a turbocharged engine. If BMW messes around too much structuring performance to match price differentials, people will start taking Mustang GT v. M3 comparisons more seriously.

The Mercedes 190E was just a small sedan. Most of them could barely get out of their own way, even by the standards of the day. Perhaps Matt meant the 190E 2.3/16, in which case he should have specified so. They were about as large a percentage of 190Es as ethical people are in congress.

@jip1080: Brilliant, but where will the extra car magazine covers come from?

Ross Brawn didn't leave Benetton until after the 1996 season. He and Rory Byrne stuck around for one unproductive year with Jean Alesi and Gerhard Berger before conceding that F1 was more fun when you had Schumacher driving your car.

1962 BMW 1500 - Many cars that are labeled as being ahead of their time were really just dead ends. That isn't the case for the BMW 1500. Stylistically, it was just one of an entire generation of European Corvair ripoffs, but under the skin was the future of what it turned into one of the most influential car

@87CE 95PV Type Я: So you think a Saab is good looking but that guy's jeans and shirt were worthy of censure?

To paraphrase My Cousin Vinny, "Keep my $12,000, or do I want a Hublot watch?" "Let me think...I could use a good ass-kicking, I'll be honest with you."

@duurtlang: You seem pretty comfortable ignoring the 20 eyewitnesses who saw the Concorde catch fire before it reached the magic piece of debris.

Cupholders are a great convenience that the europeans didn't think of and struggled to achieve competence in adopting. They pretend to be ideological about it to mask their insecurity. Some really insipid people fall for their transparent rationalizations. Pathetic.

@BoxerFanatic: I think you're on to something. They really don't drive as far. My primary car didn't have cupholders until 2007, so it isn't like I live for cupholders, but I do like having my diet coke or bottle of water handy however far I'm driving.
