All that chrome where the fenders meet the front doors makes it look like a new 7-series BMW. The worst element of these unfortunate cars is the pedestrian friendly adaptation of the traditional RR grill. This trim package does nothing to rectify the situation. If the grill surround doesn't meet current regulations,

Zombies would starve in Los Angeles.

@Fodder650: Was there something better about the '78s? I know they changed the exterior door handles for '79, and maybe some colors and trim, but I thought the mechanicals were the same. We bought a '79 Horizon new. The engine had Audi's 4-ring symbol cast into it. It wasn't a bad car, but the VAG engine was an oil

@tonyola: The point of terror is for people to know it was intentional.

Saturn is a perfect example of GM claiming that this time it is different. These were GM's Civics and Corollas. Anyone who thinks the people scared into GM dealers by sensationalist attacks on Toyota will have a better experience is dreaming.

@BenjiS: Only if someone explains it to the idiot. I doubt he talks to anyone in a typical day who could figure out the joke.

@zekestone: Why is now the time for the Explorer to become a crossover? They've already killed the Freestyle and they still have the Escape, Edge, and Flex, the latter two priced exactly on top of each other and the Explorer. It makes me think that the second rate thinking at Ford is far from over.

Oh no! I'll have to wait for the opportunity to buy a Mexican Aveo? Never mind.

I just feel for the simpletons who were mislead into GM dealerships by the duplicitous and sensationalist coverage this received from yellow mass media.

@tvcity6455: I think what they mean by rating it highly is that it has their favorite feature set and user interface but falls down in that it doesn't work reliably as a phone. They always love VW products subjectively too, only advising against purchase because they're the worst cars from a transportation standpoint.

How about charging this negligent bastard for reckless driving? How is a cop who leaves the road going fast enough to do this to our tax dollars any less dangerous than the worst drunk driver?

@Optixtruf: Whatever they were driving, maybe a Daihatsu Cuore, it wasn't a Yugo. Great concept though. I guess they couldn't make a Yugo run long enough to film it.

@Ryan K. Light: I was watching it a few months ago as well. I resisted though, as transportation would make them expensive and I'm not looking to start my own junk yard. It would be a dream to get all three and paint them like the Mini Coopers from the Italian Job for a team run at LeMons.

Next stop, LeMons!

@dculberson: If my characterization of the Wartburg was unfair, perhaps you can understand my suspicion of a car that was front engined, front wheel drive and powered by a 900 cc 2 stroke engine but raced with a rear mounted engine with at least double that capacity. Hope you had a ball. I first read about LeMons back

@dculberson: I think the last IOE winner was the same. It was a dune buggy with Porsche suspension/brakes, a VW transaxle, and a Subaru engine with the skin of an east German sedan. Thanks for taking the time to look and consider my position on this trend.

The irony that this clown is at least as dangerous as any drunk driver isn't lost on me.

Dennis Leary is horrible as the pitchman for one of the full sized truck venders. I don't know which one, as his sales work is so annoying that I'm blocking it even now. Celine Dion is Canadian though, so I'm not claiming he is as bad. I don't recall any of the Celine ads, which is nice.
