For catching beetles it should be noted that even the "sneak" speed can be fast enough to scare some away. Just very lightly move the slide pad so that you get a very slow walk and you should be fine.

The best I've encountered so far was Henry the frog telling me that he uses his toilet seat to warm pastries in the morning.

Favorite villagers definitely go to Jeremiah and Isabelle overall though.
