He started as a “harried grump,” the “embodiment of an alcoholic, pill-popping man traumatized by the death of his daughter and subsequent divorce.” Then he gets a superpowered teenage daughter who’s face is constantly attached to a boy now. Meanwhile, the woman he likes had her last relationship end when the guy

Two counterpoints:

lol naw, I liked his character and thought it was a pretty realistic portrayal of a guy whose daughter died years ago and suddenly found himself having to take care of a teenage girl.  Especially a guy who grew up in the ‘50s and was seemingly in Nam.

The guy went through a hard divorce after losing his daughter. Being stood up like that would be a huge emotional blow for him. Especially after how excited he was about it. Look at that new shirt! That’s not a shirt you get for just any ole dinner. That’s an 80's “Hey, babe. How you doin’?” shirt.

Keep going... you’ve got a lot of character story left.

People love his rage when they need some Russians mowed down with a machine gun, but as soon as it makes them a little bit uncomfortable they turn against him on a dime. That sort of killer aggression isn’t some sort of switch you just flip on and off whenever you want. They needed it to survive.

People seems to just gloss over that they were laughing in his face while he was putting himself out there emotionally with that letter that seemed to make everyone cry later.

While seven or so episodes of petulance over it might be a bit of a stretch, I can also get why Hopper might be a bit hurt to be (from his perspective at least) stood up. Sure, he kind of built it into more than it was in his head, but still, never a pleasant feeling.

I am now. I feel way better. I’m ready to face my day with a smile on my face and a rainbow in my heart.

Yeah I respectfully disagree with this completely. I found Hopper’s behavior to be a new father who would have struggled with a teenage daughter (as many do IRL) in even the best of circumstances, and their circumstances are hardly ideal.

Hopper’s still great. He’s been through some shit. Likely has PTSD from all the world saving and upside down visiting. Flawed hero who is trying to keep everything together in an increasingly insane world.

Counterpoint.

This sizzling hot take brought to you by someone who’s never had a smug little teenage shit disrespect him in his own home. I’ve banned one of my son’s friends from my house for a year for lying to my face about washing his hands after he used the bathroom (I can hear the bathroom sink from the kitchen you little

Yeah, he’s a flawed hero. It’s kind of a trope for this type of show..... It was also kind of an overarching theme for this season in particular. Nearly every main character was show as flawed this season, from Mike’s jealousy, to Will’s unwillingness to let go of the past, Steve’s broken hearted and loneliness, it

I'm with you on this. I've been catcalled/ harassed on too many occasions and like every other woman, I hate it. But a random guy saying hey what's up as I'm walking by? I don't see how it's harassment. Now, in some instances where I don't reply or immediately reject them, yes, they've gotten rude and started to

You and the Steve Miller Band

You are poorly informed...and I feel like I'm falling for the trap of feeding the troll.
