We had a group of women all become pregnant right around the same time and couple of them asked about bringing their babies to work. Our HR person researched it and prepared a policy that the executive team approved with the CEO having the final word (which was positive). Each mom had to ask two workers to be official

“Only professionals belong in professional environments. “

Jesus, yes! I work with someone who has to wear noise-canceling headphones because the 60-year-old woman in the cube next to her eats so loudly, burps, smacks her lips, etc.!

Maybe it works here because the mom has a good relationship with her co-workers, especially the people whose offices are near hers. We’ve been in meetings near her office and when she returned, a co-worker was hanging out with the baby, having chosen to just deal with the crying kid, herself, rather than fetch mom

Guilty as charged. :-)

Trust me, these are not polite people! They speak their minds!!!

That's too bad. Our boss totally supports it and furthermore, we had a client last week who said, "is that a baby?" to one of our moms when she was on the phone and the client praised the mom and went on a spiel about how awesome our company was because we supported moms.

Not everyone minds making small sacrifices for colleagues. And truly, I barely know the baby is here at the office most days.

We do this at my office and it works beautifully. We've had three babies here in the last six months and no one has complained.

Yes, yes! I’ve been thinking this same thing but have been unable to articulate it. I feel like my 11-year-old daughter is more mature and a better person because of her presence in what some would call adults-only places (I’m thinking work conferences, not XXX movie theaters).

Hoist on your own petard.

Agreed that productivity declines when there's a baby at work, but it's normally for a set period of time (six months or less), at various intervals (i.e., not hourly), and the importance of having the baby with mama at work (if that's what the mom wants) trumps. Don't expect 100% productivity during this time period.

Utterly brilliant!

That's the Peters Jacket from 1975!!!!!!!! I wore mine every day with Levi's cords and a flannel shirt.

Jew here. Not sure I agree with your comments about PC culture, but that may be more of a tendency towards politeness and not getting all up in people’s shit, BUT, am really responding to say that there’s nothing wrong, IMO, with keeping the WW II nazi souvenirs. For example, how about putting them in a nice box with

LOL! I'll give you Wade Goodwyn, okay?

I don't fucking think so! DIBS.

BILL MURRAY?????? That's it. All my new celeb crushes are women.

Fucking people swimming with dolphins. Always reminds me of this, which is hilarious.

You drank the Kool-Aid.
