It's too hot in the summer. Their sweat would prohibit them from getting any grip, they're also doing it mostly when the sun isn't out because the rock face get's too hot.
The rock bakes in the sun most of the day and the heat makes their shoes not grip as well and their fingers shred easier. They often climbed at night over the past couple of weeks to avoid even winter heat.
Friction is better in colder air temperatures.
So that they would sweat as little as possible. They're actually trying to rest while the sun is facing the wall and heating it up. They can't afford to lose any grip.
